Privacy Policy
Effective May 11, 2026 · Last updated July 14, 2026
Delta Metrics LLC ("we," "our," or "us") operates Sound Like (the "Service") at soundlike.deltametricsai.com and in our iOS and Android apps. This Privacy Policy describes what we collect, how we use it, and your choices.
01Information We Collect
We collect only what's needed to operate the Service:
- Search and generate inputs. When you search a curated tone or generate a tone, we receive the song title, artist, and your gear selections (amp family, pickup type, body type). For generated tones we also store the extracted rig data (source amp, source pickup, knob settings, page sources) in our database for caching so the next player can hit an instant copy.
- Account email. In the mobile apps, you sign in with an email address (via our authentication provider, Supabase) so we can associate your saved rig, profile, and saved tones with you and sync them across devices. On the web you can browse and try tones without an account.
- Microphone (mobile app, on-device only). The tuner uses your device's microphone to detect the pitch of the note you play. This processing happens entirely on your device in real time. We do not record, store, upload, or transmit any audio. You will be asked to grant microphone permission the first time you open the tuner.
- Subscription / purchase status. If you subscribe to Sound Like Pro, the purchase is processed by Apple (App Store) or Google (Play Store). We receive only your entitlement status (whether Pro is active). We never receive or store your name, card number, or other payment details.
- Anonymous usage analytics (web). We use PostHog on the web app to record events such as page views, search clicks, generate clicks, and feature usage. PostHog stores an anonymous device identifier in a cookie and in localStorage. We do not associate this identifier with your name or email. The mobile apps do not bundle an analytics or crash-reporting SDK.
- Feedback you send. If you use the in-app feedback form, we receive the message you write and your account email so we can reply.
- Log data. Our server may log IP address, user agent, and request timestamps for security and abuse prevention.
02How We Use Your Information
We use the data above to:
- Provide the core service — search tones, generate new tones via web research, and return adapted knob settings for your gear.
- Sync your saved rig, profile, and saved tones across your devices.
- Cache the results of expensive operations (web research, tone extractions) so the experience is fast and we don't burn API credits on duplicate requests.
- Understand which features are useful (anonymous, in aggregate) so we can improve the app.
- Detect abuse and protect the service from automated misuse.
03Third-Party Processors
Sound Like sends some data to the following processors to function:
OpenAI
When you "Generate" a tone, we send the song title, artist name, and excerpts of web pages we researched to OpenAI's API to extract a structured tone record. We also use OpenAI to generate the short playing tip that appears with each tone. Per OpenAI's API data usage policy, this content is not used to train OpenAI's models.
Firecrawl
When you "Generate" a tone or when we populate the gear catalog, we may use Firecrawl to fetch and parse public web pages (rig rundowns, manufacturer product pages, gear catalogs). We send Firecrawl the URLs we want to fetch. Firecrawl returns the content of those pages.
Supabase
Our database and authentication are hosted on Supabase. Curated tones, the gear catalog, generated-tone cache rows, and account data (email, saved rig, profile) are stored there.
PostHog
Anonymous usage analytics events from the web app are sent to PostHog (us.i.posthog.com). PostHog uses an anonymous identifier; we do not configure it to capture session replays or PII.
Cloudflare
Our website and app are served via Cloudflare Pages, which may log IP addresses and request metadata for security and performance.
04What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell your data.
- We do not show you ads.
- We do not record, store, or transmit microphone audio. The tuner listens for pitch on your device only, in real time, and keeps nothing.
- We do not receive or store your payment details — subscriptions are handled entirely by Apple and Google.
- We do not associate the song/artist queries you generate with any personal identifier for profiling or advertising.
05Cookies and Local Storage
We use cookies and browser localStorage for:
- Remembering your gear setup (amp / pickup / body) between visits.
- PostHog's anonymous device identifier (described above).
- Standard Cloudflare and session cookies.
You can clear these at any time via your browser settings. The app will still work; it will just forget your gear preference.
06Children's Privacy
The Service is not directed to users under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe we have collected such data, please contact us so we can delete it.
07Data Retention and Deletion
Cached generated-tone records (song + artist + extracted rig + source URLs) are retained indefinitely so future requests for the same song hit the cache. These records do not contain any personal information about you.
PostHog analytics events are retained per PostHog's default retention.
To delete your account and the personal data associated with it (email, saved rig, profile, saved tones), email [email protected] from the address on the account and we will process the deletion.
08Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (e.g., GDPR, CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, or delete personal information we hold about you. Email [email protected] with any privacy request and we will respond as required by applicable law.
09Trademarks
Guitar, amp, pickup, and pedal brand names referenced in the catalog (Fender, Gibson, Marshall, Mesa Boogie, Vox, Orange, PRS, Friedman, and others) are trademarks of their respective owners. Sound Like is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by any of these companies. We reference these brands solely to describe gear and tones in a factual manner.
10Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will post the updated policy here and update the "Last updated" date at the top. Material changes will be communicated in-app or via the site banner. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
